Recently, I had the opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful venues in north Orlando, Florida, and I wanted to share it with you! Venue 1902 is an absolutely gorgeous historic schoolhouse turned wedding venue & is fully restored to offer the perfect balance of vintage character and modern amenities. I captured a wedding film and learned all about the amazing history of the venue. If you’re looking for a vintage yet modern wedding venue, Venue 1902 might be perfect for you!
A Rich History
Established in 2017 as a wedding venue, Venue 1902 is a historic schoolhouse in Sanford, Florida located just north of Orlando. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. What is now Central Florida’s premier wedding venue, was once the Sanford Grammar School. Built in 1902, it was designed by Wilbur B. Talley in the Romanesque Revival style of architecture. Sanford architect Elton James Moughton designed the wings which were added in 1916. On November 23, 1984, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
Interesting Venue Details
The venue is full of beautiful details, including white walls & schoolhouse red brick as well as natural lighting. There are unique spaces such as The Lounge & The Library so no matter where you turn, it is picture perfect. My favorite detail is the schoolhouse room where you can write Mr. & Mrs. for your wedding day! It was so incredible to see these original and unique details on the property. I’m so glad I got the chance to see it all! The most special thing is how everything is all in one central location.
A Gorgeous Wedding Venue
When I say inclusive, I really mean inclusive. The price to book includes the ceremony site & reception site, so you can really take advantage of the space. It also includes even in “The Always” package use of a bridal suite, grooms suite, and tables, chairs & bar rentals. Most wedding venues in Orlando do not include those amenities. Most couples have their wedding ceremonies either at the Wedding Garden or Main Venue. The Wedding Garden is the perfect backdrop for an outdoor ceremony & has flexible decor options, which is why it’s so popular with couples. For the reception, couples typically have an epic dance party with a band on the stage in the Main Venue. This allows your guests to party it up while staying out of the constant Florida heat.
